Hi,

I'm having some issues with our PopGrabber Standard software.  This morning, our group keeps getting these errors on 5-8 email accounts every session it tries downloading emails.  One session a group of individuals will receive this error then the next session they will download the emails fine and another set of users will get this error; see below...any thoughts?

2009-01-09T11:14:44: Processing account username@domain.com on server pop3.domain.com
2009-01-09T11:14:45: Error connecting to POP3 Server: Exception connecting to server: Unable to read data from the transport connection.

It also seems that the entire session is having some type of lag with the emails.  It's taking quite a considerable amount of time for it to check 34 accounts.  The service does not time out, just sits there on a user for a few minutes then either completes downloading the emails or provides the above error.  See below time frame it takes for 34 accounts...

2009-01-09T10:52:52: Starting POP3 Download for 34 accounts.
2009-01-09T11:05:14: Finished Processing 34 accounts.

13 mins?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Also, one session has started at 11:37AM EST and is still trying to complete the session now, 21 minutes later...

Thanks!

Hi,

do you have any firewall or antivirus checking the messages? If you do, check if you find any information in the logfiles. PopGrabber is losing the connection in the middle of the transmission.

Please open a command window in your PopGrabber machine and verify that the connection to the POP3 server has a regular latency executing a ping to your POP3 server:

Code:
ping -t pop3.domain.com

Did something change today in the server configuration? Or maybe your ISP is having temporary problems.

Good Afternoon!

Thank you for the reply and yes there was a setting on my firewall that kept it from communicating with some of the mailboxes.  Unfortunatley, it didn't solve the issue I'm having with it grabbing the emails from our pop server very slow and sometimes hanging for minutes on one account; any ideas as to why this would happen?

Thank you!

Can you see in the logfiles at which point the connection slows down?

Please verify also the CPU and memory usage during the download to see if something happens when the problem occurs. I suspect some application is still somehow conflicting with the network connection.

Parallel to the POP3 download, keep a command window open with a permanent ping to the POP3 server to see if the packets are being delayed or lost.
