Try opening a command window and connecting directly to the POP3 server using telnet:

Code:
telnet mail.mydomain.com 110

Do you get a response from the POP3 server? Maybe there is a firewall or antivirus blocking the connection?

Thanks for the Suggestion. I'm using AVG Network Edition, and after disabling the feature to scan incoming messages, I can now successfully telnet my mail server.

I should add that I can connect to the mail server through PopGrabber as well.

Thanks

Well, we would not recommend you to disable the scanning completely, it should be possible to enable the antivirus without breaking the PopGrabber functionality.

Please check the following document: http://www.avg.com/us.faq.num-1373?srch=POP3#faq_1373

It seems that what is causing the problem is the personal email scanner. This should be disabled on servers:

Quote
The Personal E-mail Scanner captures and scans all communication on ports 110 and 25 (POP3 and SMTP) by default. This component was not tested nor designed for servers. Its installation may cause some issues while processing of e-mails on your email server. We recommend you to skip installation of this component.
