We're using PopGrabber to download a catchall mailbox and I'm having a problem with it not being able to complete downloading and deleting messages.

What happens is this:

1 - PopGrabber starts downloading and gets to somewhere around message #3700 and the other POP mailboxes start downloading.
2 - They other POP mailboxes finish and the session ends, but the catchall mailbox doesn't finish downloading.
3 - The next session can start automatically or be manually triggered, and the result is the same, except that the messages that were downloaded before say that they were "deleted (expired)" and then download goes on until the other mailboxes start downloading.

I'm guessing that because the POP3 session never completes successfully, the messages don't fully delete from the mailbox, even though they're previously downloaded (both PopGrabber and the server seem to know it) and marked for deletion.

The mailbox in question always has a very large number of messages in it (approximately 7,000 - that's seven thousand (ridiculous but true for now) messages an hour) - it gets all the bounce messages from the forged "from" address spam messages being rejected by other servers.

Also, if the mailbox is too big, I get the following error (clipped directly from the log):  "PopGrabber encountered an exception while downloading emails: The given key was not present in the dictionary."

Any ideas of how to resolve this?  Mailboxes that have 1000 or less messages seem to be just fine and complete normally.

Thanks,

Actually, I have some updated info on this.

It seems that error is where the catchall mailbox downlod fails and the other mailboxes try to download:

2008-12-09T01:28:43: Processing message 6253
2008-12-09T01:28:43: Global recipient: handbaggedw24@domain.com -> handbaggedw24@domain.com
2008-12-09T01:28:43: Connecting to SMTP server 192.168.1.1:25
2008-12-09T01:28:43: Connected successfully to SMTP server
2008-12-09T01:28:43: SMTP server accepted message
2008-12-09T01:28:43: SMTP session finished
2008-12-09T01:28:43: PopGrabber encountered an exception while downloading emails: The given key was not present in the dictionary.

So, it seems that something in PopGrabber is abending and the download aborts.

Thoughts?

Hello,

it seems some of the messages you are receiving have a malformed header and PopGrabber is having problems reading the sender or the subject of the message.

We will send you a modified PopGrabber Service in a few minutes to verify this.

Hi

I too am getting entry in the log file:

2009-01-08T14:33:37: PopGrabber encountered an exception while downloading emails: The given key was not present in the dictionary.

Could you kindly send me a modified service as well, if this indeed could solve the problem?

Thank you, in advance.

Regards

Hello,

this problem was corrected in the Standard and Professional versions as well. If you still have this problem, please let us know the Version and Build of your PopGrabber installation.

Hello,

do you get the message "The given key was not present in the dictionary"? Or is the error message different?

Did you have an older PopGrabber version installed before?

Yes, That is the exact error message I am getting.  This is a brand new installation.  There isn't an older version installed on this server.

We are about to release PopGrabber Professional version 1.0.3 with some new features, including the option to limit the number of messages downloaded by PopGrabber for each download cycle.

We will let you know as soon as the new version is released (before the end of this week).

If possible, send us a copy (including all headers) of the message where PopGrabber stops to our support email. It seems it also has some malformed headers or an invalid ID which makes our current version crash. We may be able to send you before a modified PopGrabber 1.0.2 version that deals correctly with these messages.
