Hi Guys, got a strange problem...
Under PopGrabber settings, on the "POP3 Accounts" page, the three buttons "New", "Edit" and "Delete" don't appear.  The OS is Windows 2003.  I've tried it with .Net 1.1 and then upgraded to .Net 2 to see if it made a difference.  Nothing.  I've also tried an install to my XP workstation which works. Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Mark,

Please check if there are any errors or warnings related to the .Net Framework or the PopGrabber in the Windows Event Viewer.

The program works under .Net Framework 1.1 and installing version 2 shouldn't make a difference. Try installing the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2003 if you haven't done so (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=AE7EDEF7-2CB7-4864-8623-A1038563DF23&displaylang=en).

If it still doesn't work please let us know and we will try to send you a modified installation program.

Greetings,

Thanks for the quick reply. Can't seem to find any errors specific to .Net Framework or PopGrabber in Event Viewer under either System or Application or PopGrabberLog.  I've attached an image of what I see in the settings:

It's not perhaps a missing control or anything like that at all? I've also enabled the debug logging level in PopGrabber but as you can see in the above screenshot, it doesn't appear to register as a problem.

Oh yes, I haven't installed SP 1 for .Net 1.1 as .Net 2 is installed.  Unless I must uninstall 2 and install the .Net 1.1 redistributable? And I did come across the following but for HHCTRL which I think are for changes made to fix what was broken by Microsoft Security Update 896358:
Quote
Event Type:   Information
Event Source:   HHCTRL
Event Category:   None
Event ID:   1904
Date:      10/05/2006
Time:      16:09:00 PM
User:      N/A
Computer:   ORTHANC
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 1904 ) in Source ( HHCTRL ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/downloads/framework1_1/, http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?LinkID=45840.

Only included it as it makes a reference to the .Net framework.

Hello again,

What we noticed is that you are probably using a display configuration which is causing problems with the placement of the buttons, maybe the font type or size. We tried to reproduce the problem in our machines without success. Could you send us the theme file used in the windows display configuration? Then we can confirm if that is really the cause of the problem.

In the meantime, here's a modified version of the program with the buttons placed on the top. Please let us know if this workaround helped. Just unzip the file and copy it to the application's folder.

Yep, I think you're correct.  I double checked all my display settings and everything was default except for the DPI (Display Settings -> Advanced -> General) which was set to 120 instead of 96. I'm going to use your modified .exe (thanks very much!) as I can't change the DPI for eyesight reasons Smiley The buttons are more or less in the middle of the window now but at least I can see them!

There is a problem with the rendering of some .Net controls using a resolution other than the default of 96 dpi. We are looking into this and will solve this problem in the next major release. In the meantime, here is a modified EXE designed for 120 dpi.
