I am experiencing two problems as listed below.

Background:
I am running PopGrabber Standard on a Small Business Server 2003 (Exchange 2003) with 53 accounts.  We sometimes receive emails with large attachments.  The reason I use PopGrabber instead of the native SBS POP3 Connector is that the native POP3 Connector can only download emails every 25 minutes.  I wanted my email updated more frequently and thus have PopGrabber set to cycle every 1 minute.  The SBS native POP3 Connector is configured to download every hour as a fall-back if PopGrabber stops.  In effort to fix the problem, today I have downloaded the latest software and reinstalled it.  This forum spoke of v1.0.3 but I cannot tell what version I previously had or what version I now have because I cannot find a version number displayed in the software.

Problem #1:
If I leave the PopGrabber console open for a few minutes, it displays 'PopGrabber' service could not be found!' and the console appears to freeze.  However, I use Services.msc to verify that the PopGrabber service is there and is running.  It appears to still be running as I continue to receive emails.

Problem #2:
Three times now over the past month, POPGrabber has stopped processing emails for no detectable reason.  The log shows just stops, i.e., no error is recorded.  I am able to restart it but would like some help in determining what is wrong.  Today I have set the log to 'debug' but now need to wait for the problem to reoccur.

Great Software!

Hello,

we will need some more information to trace the source of the problem.

Regarding Problem 1:

This may be due to the reinstallation of the program. One option you have is to uninstall the program completely and install it again. The accounts will not be deleted, but just to be on the safe side, make a backup of the file GrabberAccounts.bin. The other option is to check that the Registry points to the correct installation path for PopGrabber under "HKLM\Software\Eclarsys\PopGrabber\ApplicationPath", and that the EPopGrabberService.exe file is version 1.0.3. You can do this by right clicking on the file and checking the details.

Regarding problem 2:

We had this problem with version 1.0.2 when PopGrabber was installed in the same machine as the Exchange server. Please let us know if this is the case, so we can trace what is causing the problem this time. Please check also the path shown on the service manager to see if it point to the right PopGrabber version. The last few lines of the Debug Log will help us greatly to trace the problem.

Update to this problems:

Problem 1: This problem may happen if the PopGrabber service is externally restarted while the administration console is open. To solve this reopen the console or update the PopGrabber installation. New versions of PopGrabber (from version 1.0.5) have an updated console and should not have this problem.

Problem 2: This problem has been solved since version 1.0.5, and was appearing mainly on users with Small Business Server installations where PopGrabber was running on the same machine as the Exchange Server.
