Hello,

I've set up a Win 2003 AD controller and a Win 2003 server running Exchange 2003 (only a test lab to improve my Exchange knowledge). I'm running the free POP Grabber in order to download the email onto the server. I've checked web mail on another computer and there are 4 emails waiting to come through for a user. POP Grabber can see that there are 4 messages waiting to come through.

Error message is as follows:

2007-10-19T12:17:11: Processing account user2@(domain) on server pop.1and1.co.uk
2007-10-19T12:17:11: 4 messages on server
2007-10-19T12:17:12: Invalid response to HELO command: 501 HELO requires domain address

2007-10-19T12:17:12: Invalid response from SMTP Server
2007-10-19T12:17:12: Download for this account will be aborted
2007-10-19T12:17:12: Finished Processing 1 accounts.

Would be very grateful if someone could point out how I get get around this problem.
Thanks, Computertechie.

Hello,

The PopGrabber is not sending the host name of the computer on the HELO handshake. We have confirmed this is a bug in the current release (1.0.1) and will correct it as soon as possible.

Using the standard Exchange configuration, the SMTP Server does not check for the hostname, however in your case it does. Do you have reverse DNS lookup activated in your Virtual SMTP Server's configuration? Deactivating it could also solve the problem.

Hi again,

Eclarsys PopGrabber Free has been updated to Version 1.0.2 in the download section.

The hostname is now sent during the SMTP handshake, this should eliminate this error message.

Please let us know if you still have problems.
