Messages on POP3 server are downloaded continously

I currently have the setting enabled to leave messages on my POP3 server. However, all my messages continue to be downloaded multiple times to my email app (Outlook), even after I have deleted them in my email app. I have two questions-
1. Is there a way to ensure that messages from my POP3 server are downloaded once and only once to my email app?
2. Is there a way to ensure that whenever I delete a message in my email app that it will be deleted on my POP3 Server? In other words, I want to leave only those messages on my POP3 Server that I have not deleted in email app.

Hello,
can you tell us how you configured the accounts in Outlook? Are you using a POP3 account here or are you connected to an Exchange server (or both?).
There is an option to delete the messages in the POP3 server when do delete them from the Outlook "Deleted Items" folder. Under the POP3 account configuration go to Advanced and enable "Remove from server when delete from 'Deleted Items'".

My messages are retrieved by Exchange Sever 2010 from my POP3 Server. I view and edit my messages using Outlook 2007.

I am familiar with the "Remove from server when delete from 'Deleted Items" option in Outlolk. That option, however, will do me no good as Exchange Server is retrieving my messages, not Outlook.

If PopGrabber is delivering the same message multiple times, please try the following:
In the Advanced tab of the PopGrabber settings:
1. Verify that the option "Do not filter messages with duplicate ID" is NOT checked.
2. Under "Delivery Database - Keep history for" should be set to at least 2 days in order to prevent duplicate messages arriving on different days.
If possible, please set the report level in PopGrabber to "debug" and send us the parts of the log file where the duplicate deliveries occur to our support email address (support@...).
Regarding your question about deleting the messages from the POP3 server when they are removed in Outllook, this is unfortunately not possible since PopGrabber does not have access to the Exchange message store to identify the messages that have already been deleted.

OK, I changed the "Delivery Database - Keep history for" to a greater number of days that I'm keeoping messages on the POP3 server. I take it that once this time period is passed that PopGrabber delivers any messages it finds on the POP3 Server older than period, correct?
Also, the "Do not filter messages with duplicate ID" is in fact NOT checked.
As to deleting messages off the POP3 Server when I delete them in Outlook, what you say about Pop3Grabber not having access to the Exchange data store makes sense. It would be nice if there was a way to do that, however.

The delivery database is sepparate from the information used by PopGrabber to track already downloaded messages, increasing this value only helps to avoid receiving duplicate messagess that actually exist multiple times in the POP3 server (for example, when using a global mailbox some servers keep multiple copies of the same messages if multiple recipients from the same domain are present).
If your history database was already set to a value greater than 2 days and the duplicate IDs are being filtered then you have another problem.
It would probably help us to track the problem if you send us the headers of 2 duplicate messages to see if the messages are being duplicated in the original POP3 server, in Exchange, or if PopGrabber is not keeping track of the messages correctly.
The only other cause of duplicate emails would be if an invalid date (was/is) set on the machine where PopGrabber is installed.

The messages are certainly not being duplicated in my POP3 Server. Also, Exchange is not duplicating them so therefore PoPGrabber is not keeping track of them correctly. ALso, the date set on the machine where PoPGrabber is installed is in fact a valid date.
I have emailed support the headers of an original and duplicate message.

Thank you,
We have received the headers and found the source of the problem. Under certain conditions PopGrabber does deliver duplicate messages after the message has expired. This problem does not appear if the the history database expiration days are configured to a value greater than the maximum number of days you leave the messages on the server, so the changes you made in the configuration should solve the problem until we release the update.
Thank you for your patience troubleshooting this problem. We will post a message here when the update is ready.
